LAKE WACONIA TRIATHLON RULES AND REGULATIONS

WEATHER
The race will be held rain or shine. If the weather is dangerous, such as tornado warning, electrical storms, or high winds, the race will be postponed in half hour increments up to 1-1/2 hours. If the race cannot be started by 10:30 a.m. it will be canceled. Racing in this type of weather is not worth someone getting hurt.   If the water condition is felt to be unsafe (e.g., high whitecaps, cold temperature), the race will become a duathlon with a run-bike-run component.

**CHECK-IN AT THE REGISTRATION AREA BETWEEN 6:30 AND 8:00 A.M.**

SWIMMING
If you become overly tired while swimming or need to stop swimming for any reason, please let the volunteers in the boats know what assistance you need.

BIKING
Slots in the bike corral are allotted on a first-come, first-serve basis. No exceptions!

Only participants with a race number and volunteers will be allowed in the bike corral, to ensure bike security.

Each participant is responsible to remove his or her bike after the race in a reasonable amount of time.

You will not be allowed to ride your bike in the transition area.  You must dismount and push your bike before entering the bike corral. Violators will be assessed a 20 minute penalty or be disqualified, depending on severity of violation.  This is for your safety.

Drafting will not be allowed.  The drafting rule will not be enforced within 50 yds of any turn of 90° or more or whenever it is necessary to reduce speed for safety reasons, for course blockage, for an aid station, or an emergency.  This is enforced on the honor system.

All bikers must ride along the shoulder whenever possible.  There will be several volunteers
and police along the course in this area.  For your own safety, it is mandated that you ride on the shoulder.  The bike course is only partially closed to traffic, so you must be on the lookout for cars (especially those backing out of driveways or parking spots).  Again, there will be several volunteers along the course to help with traffic control.  You must ride on the right side of the road at all times.

You must ride single file unless passing.  Before passing, you must inform the person you intend to pass by yelling, "On your left".

RUNNING
Runners must also stay on the right side of the road.

WATER
Water will be available at the 1,2, and 3 mile markers of the run and also in the transition area.  There will also be refreshments at the finish.

RACE NUMBERS
Race numbers must be clearly displayed on the front of your shirt or shorts during the running and biking portion of the race.  DO NOT tear off the tag at the bottom of the number, but have it ready so that race officials can tear it off when you enter the finish line chute.
